Kindness is not a trend — it’s a daily practice.
The story behind Compassion Outreach Project is one of transformation, how a single spark of inspiration grew into a movement restoring dignity, joy, and connection through curated dining experiences.
The Compassion Outreach Project began with a simple question: What if charity could feel more like hospitality?
In 2010, founder Vern Harris imagined an approach to service rooted not only in nourishment, but in dignity, wellness, and joy.
In 2016, this vision took shape with Gourmet for Good, a holiday activation in Miami serving hot turkey dinners to those in need. What began as a single act of service grew into a purpose-driven initiative, proving that meals can do more than feed the body — they can nourish the spirit and restore confidence.
As the initiative expanded to Los Angeles, COP partnered with a local housing program to provide over 150 residents with a dining experience rooted in dignity and care. These events confirmed what we knew from the beginning: food, when offered with compassion, has the power to inspire transformation.
We believe food is more than nourishment
it’s connection, care, and community.
That’s why we: Partner with local farmers nationwide to ensure fresh, clean ingredients.
Emphasize transparency so guests know where their food comes from and how it’s grown.
Create dining environments that feel restorative, not transactional.
Through this philosophy, we’re expanding beyond Los Angeles into New York, Miami, and other cities, carrying the belief that every meal can restore joy and belonging.
Guided by our call to action — Eat Good, Feel Good, Inspire
we continue serving hope, one thoughtful plate at a time.
We invite chefs, nonprofits, corporations, and community leaders to join us as partners in this expansion. Together, we can transform dining into an experience of dignity and belonging for every city we serve.
Compassion doesn’t end when the plates are cleared — it continues beyond the table.
Every Compassion Outreach Project dining experience concludes with an act of ongoing care: our Kindness Kits. Each kit is thoughtfully curated to reflect the unique needs and emotions of the community we’re serving.
For individuals experiencing homelessness, a kit may include wellness and hygiene essentials, nutritious snacks, affirmations, and creative tokens of hope. For survivors of domestic violence, it may become a pamper kit — filled with self-care and feel-good items that restore confidence and comfort.
Every detail — from packaging to presentation — is designed to uphold dignity, beauty, and belonging. Because compassion, at its core, should always be personal.
Our work doesn’t end with a meal or a moment — it evolves into opportunity.
The next chapter of Compassion Outreach Project focuses on empowering the very communities we serve through creativity, mentorship, and skill building.
From culinary and hospitality workshops to event production, fashion, and technology programs, we’re creating spaces where compassion becomes collaboration — and where every act of giving plants the seed for growth.
As we expand, our goal remains simple: to inspire a movement of compassionate creators who uplift others through purpose, artistry, and connection.
Feed with compassion. Gift with compassion. Create with compassion. Thrive with compassion.
